Welcome to My Therapy
My Therapy strives to be an industry leader, providing evidence-based therapy to our clients with neurological and other chronic medical conditions.
As a therapy service provider, we are creative and innovative with our therapy. We aim to understand you as an individual and work together to ensure what we do in therapy translates to support you in your everyday life. Our philosophy is to work together and empower our clients to challenge themselves to reach their goals, aiming to improve independence and quality of life, with a focus on treating the person not their condition.
We understand the physical aspects of rehabilitation, and we also understand the emotional and social aspects – the building of confidence, friendships, peer support and so much more. My Therapy therapists work together with our clients, their families and carers to build a community, the My Therapy family.
Kate has been my physiotherapist for the last couple of years following my stroke. After my stroke I was unable to walk or use my left arm, which had a big impact on my life and what I could do. Kate took the time to learn about me, my hobbies / interests and my goals and what was important to me, making a plan to help me get back to doing the things I enjoyed. I am now walking again at home and in the community, I enjoy trail walks and have even started learning to run again, which is something I didn’t think I would be able to do! I have found Kate to be positive and motivating, she continues to support me with my physiotherapy, as well as linking me in with other therapists and services to further support my goals of using my arm again and being able to return to work. Kate considers all aspects of me and my rehabilitation and continues to go above and beyond to help me achieve my goals.Michael O’Brien
Knowledgeable, patient, caring, totally professional, exuding an infectious motivation to achieve, is an apt description of My Therapy’s Director and physiotherapist, Kate Adams. I had been an active and independent as possible, C5/6 quad for thirty years, attending University, working full time for fifteen years and then volunteering until one mishap followed closely by another sent me into a downhill spiral. These events led to losing eighty per cent of my physical independence resulting in being confined to my home, feelings of worthlessness, weight gain and suffering depression for three years. I started working with Kate in early 2018. After an initial assessment she set out a specifically designed exercise program for me. Since that day, the change in my physical and mental status has undoubtably improved immensely. In the two years Kate has been my physiotherapist I have gone from an overweight, non- active, disaffected quadriplegic who has progressed from using stretch bands and minimal weights at home to joining and attending a community gymnasium three times a week. I have gained strength, flexibility, mobility, rid my body of over five kilos and now feel I have a purpose in life. I would recommend to any person with the loss of physical function restricting their ability to achieve the most in their life to contact Kate Adams at My Therapy. As an induvial with an acquired spinal injury I am amazed at what we can be achieved through the guidance, commitment and positive reinforcement of a dedicated physiotherapist.Wally Hinkley
I have worked with Kate for many years as my physiotherapist, and prior to that as my support worker. During this time Kate has assisted me working within a team of health professionals to support me. I have a very high-level spinal cord injury, as a C1 quadriplegic I have no ability to move any part of my body below my neck. Kate has assisted me with my physiotherapy, training my staff to complete my home exercises, as well as with the use of technologies such as Virtual Reality and functional electrical stimulation to achieve my goals and she is always looking for innovative ways to continue to support me, which has allowed me to do and experience new things. Kate thinks outside of the square and not only understands my goals but also me as a person. I would highly recommend anyone with a disability looking for a physio that can support, encourage and work with them to achieve their goals to contact Kate at My Therapy.Shane Agnew
